Time For a New Challenge!

So, my son and I are L.A.Z.Y. Lazy, lazy, lazy. We have been slacking off so much, that we have become ultra super lazy. Not just about exercise. My house has been TRASHED, because I don't feel like cleaning up after dinner, or I pile papers up on the counter. Fold the laundry, but don't put it away, etc. It has been ridiculous.

However, we had a talk about it, and Matthew and I decided to give ourselves a challenge. We absolutely MUST do at least 30 minutes of exercise, every single day. No matter what!! We are going to add to that as time goes on. When we were exercising regularly, we felt SO much better. We have Comcast, and On Demand has a ton a free, short exercise videos. We are going to pick a few to do each day. Except Thursdays, because Zumba.

Yesterday, I bought a bathing suit. It's November, in Michigan, but I bought a bathing suit anyway. A Kmart near us is going out of business. The bathing suit was like $3. It is way too small. That was not an accident. It is now my "goal outfit". I have until my family goes to Disney World this spring to fit into that thing. Wish me luck!

Today, I got sick of the laziness, and my messy house. So, I put in my ear buds, turned on my calorie counter, and got to work. I cleaned for 3 hours and 55 minutes, and according to my calorie counting app, burned 1053 calories!!! That's one thousand calories. Cleaning. Wow. I'm guessing that the bulk of that is from going up and down the stairs so much. All of my folded laundry was down in the basement, on my "folding table". Then I brought it all up to the bedrooms, up on the second floor. Now, I wouldn't recommend letting your house get trashed, haha. But remember, cleaning is pretty good exercise too ;)

Oh my. It has been TWO MONTHS since my last blog post! I am SOOOO sorry!! Life exploded on me. I had my sister, brother-in-law and niece come move in with me temporarily, school started up full force for all three kids, and I started a Girl Scout troop. Add general daily life, babysitting, and holidays, and things are just insane. Honestly, I haven't been exercising like I should be. Or at all... But, that stops now. It's time for me to get back to ME. I need to stop worrying so much about everyone else, especially the ones who don't give me a second thought, and focus on myself, and my family. Matthew has gotten very, very lazy as well. So, him and I need to get back to it. We will make exercise a priority. Every. Single. Day. Of course, tomorrow is Monday, so I'm sure that you all remember what that means! ;)

Did I tell you guys that we got a cat? My husband, the all time anti-cat guy, got my daughter a kitten. She was over the moon about it, of course. His name is Gizmo, and he is incredibly cute. He is also incredibly evil. He bites and scratches HARD. He's just playing, but man. That hurts! Here is the little devil:

Halloween was insane this year. My town moved trick-or-treating to Saturday, because of our high school football team's playoff game, and people lost their MINDS over it. There were actual death threats. It was nuts. My kids were thrilled. They got to go trick-or-treating on Halloween the next town over, and then go again in our town on Saturday. We did so much Halloween stuff this year. The kids definitely got a lot of use out of their costumes! And since we had "two Halloweens", I got to wear both of my Halloween shirts ;) Including the totally awesome shirt that SaSeaDecor made me, based off of a chalk board print made by the awesomely talented Jessica Garvin. Prepare for Halloween picture overload!

I know that Thanksgiving is up next, but I'm already ready for Christmas!! It's my favorite time of the year :) I promise to post again before then ;)

Weddings, Birthdays, and New Challenges!

Today is my daughter Alyssa's 8th birthday! Saturday night she had a couple of friends spend the night. Well, technically one friend, and a cousin, ha ha. I was a little worried that with three there might be some fighting, or drama, but everything went great, and it was fun. Then we had her "Rainbow" birthday party on Sunday afternoon. It was a great turn out, and everyone had fun. I think, at least, ha ha. This morning I made her some rainbow pancakes, and sent her off to school for her class party. Two other little girls in class have birthdays today as well, so the moms and I coordinated the treats. Tonight we are taking her out for pizza with some friends and my sister, brother-in-law and niece. Then cake and mom's. Then, birthday madness is DONE. For a few more weeks at least ;)

On Saturday, before Alyssa's sleepover, I officiated an outdoor wedding. I'm not going to post pictures of the wedding, because it was for people that I don't personally know. But this wedding was SO cool! Very laid back, and fun. The decorations we awesome looking. They had a mason jar chandelier, the cake sat on top of a tree stump, and it was just really, really neat. I was invited to stay for the reception, but couldn't due to Lyssy's friends coming over. I wish I could have though, I'm betting it was fun! I always love doing weddings where the bride and groom are laid back and fun. My normal shirt that I wear to do weddings has gotten too big though, so I had to come up with something else. I joined the My Fitness Pal group that my Aunt Barb started, and have been logging my meals and exercise every day. I also bought an elliptical from a yard sale, but it squeaks SO loud, so I can only use it during the day. I joined a "Biggest Loser" competition in my town as well, and one of the members on the Facebook group posted a link to the Bikini Body Mommy Challenge today. It looks kinda cool, so I'm going to try it out. Today is day one, so wish me luck! The girl really stresses that you should have a friend join you, to keep you accountable, so if anyone reading this would like to join me, PLEASE let me know. You do not have to live near me, or come to house to work out with me. We will just keep each other accountable. Call, text, or Facebook message to make sure that we keep going, things like that. This is the Facebook page where she posts the videos, and this is a direct link to her first video. Update Time

I am so sorry that it has been so long since I updated this blog. Things have been crazy around here. First I got the kids' strep throat. But it knocked me down for two weeks. Then it was another week before I could breathe without my chest hurting. I have at least one extra kid every single day, and most nights I pass out the second my last child closes their eyes. So, it makes getting on the computer very hard. Luckily school starts next week, so things should be able to go back to normal very soon. The weeks have been filled with birthday parties, and other fun events.

Sickness and wacky weather have prevented me from jogging for quite some time. However, Matthew and I have been going to Zumba still, and we have been doing the "free run" for 30 minutes on the Wii every other day. My illness made me unable to eat more than a few bites of anything for nearly three weeks. So, now I am eating much less than I was before. Not an unhealthy amount less, just less. I also was finally able to wean my youngest child from breastfeeding, so that has helped me as well. The jeans that I was SO excited to finally fit into are now starting to get a bit too big. Shirts that haven't fit me in years I now wear regularly. I won a shirt at a picnic, size small. It fits great :)

Matthew was struggling with motivation. His step father and I were trying to explain to him that eating in moderation, and getting some amount of exercise every day is very, very important. But he would just shut down and get angry. So, I showed him this commercial:

Quite frankly, it terrified him. That was not my intention, but it has motivated him to exercise daily, and make sure to not over eat. We took a couple of "progress" pictures, and I put them together with our very first picture. There is definitely a difference. We are not giving up. September 2nd we join a challenge with my Aunt. I will make a separate blog post about that when the time comes. And I will try to keep up better too!
